I'm a teacher here and Homes are going for about $599,000 on average. Rent is about $2,028/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 74--F, so it's warm year-round. The median home value here is around $599,000, which is pretty steep. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Worth the trade-offs? TIA! The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 10 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is safety. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.
