Poverty rate is 9.9%, which is pretty low. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

I've lived in Fairview for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure
- The walkability scene is tough
The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Far from beaches/mountains

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Boston about 10 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Four distinct seasons
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are established, gas is average.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
