OK so I grew up here but left for a while. Average temperature is around 55--F, so the weather is moderate. Rent is about $1,429/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $1,429 for rent here. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Thanks! I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Midtown. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in engineering. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like Asian.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Hot take but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. I know a lot of people disagree but after 9 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've been living here for 8 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The school system is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Baltimore about 5 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are reasonable, gas is decent.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I work in education here and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market for my field is tough. Hope this helps!.
