Cost of living reality check -Lenexa

So, We have two kids and Rent is about $1,429/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 3.6%, which is pretty low. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Am I wrong here?

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 15 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Houston about 3 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Affordable housing options
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Good luck with whatever you decide..
