Job hunting in Lenexa -tips?

Military spouse here. The unemployment rate is 2.0%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $1,429 for rent here. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Boston about 14 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Close to major attractions
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is decent.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is healthcare. it's not perfect but it works for me. Worth doing your research before committing.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 10 years here, that's my honest assessment.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is improving in most areas.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.
