Alright, I'm a teacher here and Household incomes average around $60,480 in Lenoir City. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. What would you do? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Used to live on the Riverside side, now on the Oak Park side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Austin about 4 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are reasonable, gas is decent.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Hot take but I genuinely enjoy living here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a data analyst, 33, moved here 5 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in Maple Ridge and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Low crime in most neighborhoods
3. Strong job market in several industries
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Not very walkable outside downtown
3. The pet-friendliness situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Maple Ridge: Great for remote workers. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$120K here.
**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Came here for weather and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The job market is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
