Couple moving to Lenoir City from out of state

Hello, We have two kids and Poverty rate is 18.4%, which is higher than I expected. Average temperature is around 59--F, so the weather is moderate. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Does this match your experience? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to Portland it's solid.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in North. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in finance. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Asian.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
