Hey everyone, I've been here for 5 years and Homes are going for about $214,300 on average. Average temperature is around 59--F, so the weather is moderate. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Is this normal for Lenoir City?

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely excellent and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Highland) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

The food scene here is tough. Tons of great seafood places. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from Miami about 8 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good internet infrastructure
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
