Career opportunities in Lenoir, NC

Random thought, I'm a college student here and The median home value here is around $165,200, which is actually reasonable. Average temperature is around 58--F, so the weather is moderate. Median household income is $48,889, which feels on the lower side for the area. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Should I be concerned? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Atlanta about 15 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are reasonable, gas is excellent.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Feel free to reach out with questions..
