Freelancing from Lenoir -experience?

Curious what people think. My family moved here when I was a kid. Median household income is $48,889, which feels on the lower side for the area. The unemployment rate is 2.9%, which is pretty low. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Am I wrong here? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Fairview. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in construction. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Hope this helps!.

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in East area are decent. Kids love it here.

I work in manufacturing here and I genuinely enjoy living here. The job market for my field is decent. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
