Longtime lurker here, I'm a 54-year-old contractor and Rent is about $2,149/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 56--F, so the weather is moderate. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Maple Ridge area are excellent. Kids love it here.

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. traffic used to be much established but now it's better than expected.

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a project manager who relocated here from Tampa about 7 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are established, gas is solid.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I genuinely enjoy living here.

My experience has been mostly positive. it exceeded my expectations. The only thing I'd watch out for is job market. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..
