Why I chose Lewisburg over bigger cities
Curious what people think. I'm a college student here and Poverty rate is 10.5%, which is around average. The unemployment rate is 0.3%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $803/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $803 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Lewisburg sits at 78.3 per 100K. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development.
Pros:
- Great weather
- Good schools
- Diverse community
- Strong sense of community
- Plenty of shopping options
Cons:
- High property taxes
- Boring for young people
- Limited cultural events
- Chain restaurants dominate
Should I be concerned? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.
