Freelancing from Lewisville -experience?

Hey, I've been here for 9 years and It's a a small town city with about 13,655 people. Rent is about $1,059/month for a decent place. Median household income is $84,424, which feels pretty solid for the area. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Am I overthinking this? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

I work in marketing here and it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market for my field is hit or miss. Good luck with whatever you decide..

My experience has been mostly positive. it exceeded my expectations. The only thing I'd watch out for is job market. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a teacher, 58, moved here 3 years ago from Atlanta. I've lived in Greenfield and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Bugs and humidity in summer
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The walkability situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for singles. tough vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Atlanta, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $50K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in South for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Four distinct seasons
- The healthcare scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. Hope this helps!.

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.
