Grocery stores in Lexington-Fayette urban county — recommendations?

So, I'm a remote worker and Average temperature is around 57°F, so the weather is moderate. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Thoughts? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Bought a house here in 2023 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely pretty good and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Fairview) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Dating scene is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I work in hospitality here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is solid. Hope this helps!.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if traffic matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Used to live on the North side, now on the Springfield side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Maple Ridge. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in retail. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've lived in Uptown for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good healthcare facilities
- The walkability scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. No regrets on my end..
