Pros and cons of Lexington-Fayette urban county after 15 years

Longtime lurker here, I work in government and Homes are going for about $272,100 on average. It's a a mid-size city city with about 321K people. The median home value here is around $272,100, which seems about average. Household incomes average around $67,631 in Lexington-Fayette urban county. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

I've lived in Midtown for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong sense of community
- The job market scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I'm a electrician and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is challenging and there's always something going on.
