Biggest downsides of living in Lexington?

Alright, I relocated for work and Crime rate is something to consider -Lexington sits at 50.3 per 100K. The median home value here is around $1,147,900, which is pretty steep. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a writer, 39, moved here 6 years ago from Miami. I've lived in Fairview and Lakewood, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The safety situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Fairview: Great for families. solid vibes, walkable.
- Lakewood: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $100K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Midtown. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in marketing. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in Midtown area are better than expected. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Sunset. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in engineering. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Hot take but I genuinely enjoy living here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.
