Hey, I'm single, late 30s, and Median household income is $219,402, which feels pretty solid for the area. Poverty rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Thoughts? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from Charlotte about 9 years ago. The main reasons were family and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Four distinct seasons
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are developing, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a social worker who relocated here from Boston about 4 years ago. The main reasons were school and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is average.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in East. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Indian.
Hope this helps!.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want traffic, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in Highland area are decent. Kids love it here.
