Cheapest neighborhoods in Lexington?

Anyone else feel this way? Poverty rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low.

The food scene here is hit or miss. Tons of great seafood places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Raleigh about 14 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are competitive, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Bought a house here in 2015 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are tough, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
