Hey everyone, Crime rate is something to consider -Lexington sits at 50.3 per 100K. Household incomes average around $219,402 in Lexington. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Thanks in advance! It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

I've lived in West for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good internet infrastructure
- The healthcare scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a project manager, 38, moved here 15 years ago from New York. I've lived in Meadowbrook and West, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The weather situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Meadowbrook: Great for couples. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- West: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$90K here.
**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Sunset for 8 years. Moved from Miami for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
hospitality is strong here. consulting is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's been a really good experience overall. The outdoor scene is solid - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Sunset schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Property taxes are high. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 6/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if weather matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Pine Hills. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in marketing. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like Southern.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The school system is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a project manager who relocated here from Atlanta about 2 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good internet infrastructure
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are affordable, gas is tough.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 4 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Decent public transit for the size
- The public transit scene is decent
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Westside. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in retail. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Asian.
