How is Lexington for outdoor activities?

Longtime lurker here, The unemployment rate is 1.9%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $1,147,900, which is pretty steep. You can expect to pay around $2,816 for rent here. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 1 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Bought a house here in 2018 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in East area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. community vibe used to be much affordable but now it's underrated.

Used to live on the Cedar Grove side, now on the Uptown side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is nightlife. it's not perfect but it works for me. Worth doing your research before committing.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want outdoor recreation, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've lived in Midtown for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The food scene scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.
