Job hunting in Lexington -tips?

Military spouse here. Homes are going for about $1,147,900 on average. Poverty rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $1,147,900, which is pretty steep. Household incomes average around $219,402 in Lexington. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Thanks for reading. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much established but now it's tough.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Lakewood for 3 years. Moved from Phoenix for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is tough - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Lakewood schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Road conditions need improvement. Can feel isolated. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 8/10. Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Minneapolis about 12 years ago. The main reasons were work and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are pricey, gas is underrated.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Definitely worth checking out..

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The traffic is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Meadowbrook. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in construction. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Hope this helps!.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want traffic, then yeah this place is great. But if dating scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
