Lexington housing prices -when will it stop?

Curious what people think. I'm a college student here and You can expect to pay around $2,816 for rent here. Homes are going for about $1,147,900 on average. The median home value here is around $1,147,900, which is pretty steep. Crime rate is something to consider -Lexington sits at 50.3 per 100K. Rent is about $2,816/month for a decent place. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Pros:
- Low crime in most areas
- Diverse community
- Easy commute
- Strong sense of community

Cons:
- Not very walkable
- Lack of diversity
- Few job opportunities in some fields
Thoughts? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to Denver it's hit or miss.

I've lived in West for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Decent public transit for the size
- The healthcare scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. Hope this helps!.

Used to live on the Westside side, now on the West side. Completely different vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's not perfect but it works for me. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if cost of living matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely average and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (North) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Used to live on the Pine Hills side, now on the Sunset side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.
