So, I grew up here but left for a while. Poverty rate is 14.8%, which is around average. Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Bought a house here in 2023 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Used to live on the Eastside side, now on the Pine Hills side. Completely different vibe. it's not perfect but it works for me.

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The healthcare is underrated compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Downtown area are excellent. Kids love it here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value housing market, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely challenging and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Fairview) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely challenging and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Westside) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

I've lived in Uptown for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- The pet-friendliness scene is average
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited high-paying job options
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from Raleigh about 1 years ago. The main reasons were weather and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are growing, gas is improving.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Definitely worth checking out..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.
