Working in Lexington -salaries realistic?

Hello, With a population of 10,693, Lexington is a small town. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. Anyone in a similar situation? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 3 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I work in retail here and it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market for my field is underrated. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want food scene, then yeah this place is great. But if cultural scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Oak Park area are improving. Kids love it here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Boston about 15 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events and festivals
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are affordable, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in Lakewood for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good airport with direct flights
- The dating scene scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. Definitely worth checking out..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to San Francisco it's pretty good.

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..
