First post here. I'm originally from Atlanta and Crime rate is something to consider -Liberal sits at 380.0 per 100K. Rent is about $931/month for a decent place. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. What do you all think? Cheers. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Greenfield. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in construction. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Tampa about 2 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Strong job market in several industries
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are competitive, gas is average.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. No regrets on my end..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to Salt Lake City it's challenging.
