I'm a college student here and Rent is about $1,164/month for a decent place. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Definitely worth checking out..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want traffic, then yeah this place is great. But if community vibe matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

My experience has been mostly positive. I genuinely enjoy living here. The only thing I'd watch out for is school system. Other than that, Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Maple Ridge. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Feel free to reach out with questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Tampa about 6 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are stable, gas is solid.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Maple Ridge. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in retail. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Thai.
Hope this helps!.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is decent in most areas.

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
