Moved here from Portland about 12 years ago. I have mixed feelings honestly. Still getting used to nightlife but Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in East. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in education. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Definitely worth checking out..

Used to live on the Greenfield side, now on the The Heights side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Eastside. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Portland it's better than expected.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a real estate agent, 35, moved here 13 years ago from Nashville. I've lived in North and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The traffic situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for young professionals. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Nashville, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $50K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
