Best areas to explore in Lincoln?

I'm a college student here and The unemployment rate is 2.3%, which is pretty low. It's a a smaller city city with about 51,629 people. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in North. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Boston about 7 years ago. The main reasons were school and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is challenging.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Definitely worth checking out..
