Hello, My family moved here when I was a kid. The median home value here is around $628,500, which is pretty steep. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. What neighborhoods would you suggest?

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from LA about 9 years ago. The main reasons were weather and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is challenging.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Portland it's surprisingly good.
