Hi all, You can expect to pay around $2,081 for rent here. Average temperature is around 61--F, so the weather is moderate. Household incomes average around $108,108 in Lincoln. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Thoughts? The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Bought a house here in 2023 and the quality of life is solid. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to Raleigh it's better than expected.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely improving and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely pretty good and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (The Heights) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Boston about 7 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Strong job market in several industries
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Hope this helps!.

I'm a software engineer and I've found the quality of life is solid. The community is average and there's always something going on.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely hit or miss and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Uptown) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Portland, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want outdoor recreation, then yeah this place is great. But if traffic matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
