First post here. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Is this normal for Lincoln?

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries
- The school system scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited high-paying job options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 10 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Hot take but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. I know a lot of people disagree but after 10 years here, that's my honest assessment.

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. school system used to be much manageable but now it's pretty good.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
- The outdoor recreation scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
