Hey folks, I'm a teacher here and The unemployment rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $804/month for a decent place. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Is this normal for Lincoln? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Used to live on the Sunset side, now on the Greenfield side. Completely different vibe. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Boston about 9 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries
Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are reasonable, gas is average.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. No regrets on my end..

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The weather is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is safety. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
