Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 2 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Midtown for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The food scene scene is tough

The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is weather. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely better than expected and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I work in consulting here and it's been a really good experience overall. The job market for my field is underrated. No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 2 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
