Honest thoughts on life in Lincoln

Been meaning to ask this. The unemployment rate is 2.3%, which is pretty low. The suburbs are where most families end up. Let me know your thoughts. TIA! Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Eastside. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in finance. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Definitely worth checking out..

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Dallas it's solid.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely average and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Eastside) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
