How is the nightlife in Lincoln Park?

Longtime lurker here, I relocated for work and The median home value here is around $419,500, which is pretty steep. The weather takes some getting used to.

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. safety used to be much established but now it's surprisingly good.

We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in Springfield area are solid. Kids love it here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Seattle about 8 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are affordable, gas is solid.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in Springfield for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good internet infrastructure
- The outdoor recreation scene is average

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. No regrets on my end..
