Pros and cons of Lincoln Park after 11 years

Hey everyone, Military spouse here. Median household income is $81,337, which feels pretty solid for the area. With a population of 2,406, Lincoln Park is a small town. Rent is about $1,261/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $254,300, which seems about average. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Growing food scene
- Plenty of shopping options
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Hot summers
- High property taxes
- Boring for young people
- Poor road conditions
- Limited cultural events
Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I've lived in Highland for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries
- The traffic scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Internet is surprisingly good in most areas.
