Alright, You can expect to pay around $2,087 for rent here. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Is this normal for Lincolnia?

I'm a accountant and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is average and there's always something going on.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Chicago about 1 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are reasonable, gas is underrated.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Hope this helps!.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The cultural scene is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a teacher, 33, moved here 4 years ago from Baltimore. I've lived in Old Town and East, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Not a lot of cultural diversity
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The safety situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for young professionals. excellent vibes, walkable.
- East: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $100K-$130K here.
**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
