Couple moving to Lincolnton from out of state

Thoughts? Thanks! Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Cedar Grove. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Italian.

No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Portland about 13 years ago. The main reasons were family and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Close to major attractions
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are developing, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

The food scene here is challenging. Tons of great Mexican places. it's not perfect but it works for me.

My experience has been mostly positive. it exceeded my expectations. The only thing I'd watch out for is housing market. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..
