Moving to Linden -what should I know?

Curious what people think. I'm a teacher here and The unemployment rate is 6.0%, which is about average. Crime rate is something to consider -Linden sits at 373.3 per 100K. Homes are going for about $387,200 on average. Median household income is $91,036, which feels pretty solid for the area. Rent is about $1,677/month for a decent place. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Looking forward to hearing from you all. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from New York about 7 years ago. The main reasons were school and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are reasonable, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
