What surprised you most about Lindenhurst?

Military spouse here. With a population of 14,365, Lindenhurst is a small town. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Looking forward to hearing from you all.

I've lived in Westside for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
- The cultural scene scene is improving

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The pet-friendliness scene is improving

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 9 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..
