Longtime lurker here, I'm a college student here and You can expect to pay around $2,099 for rent here. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

I've lived in Oak Park for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good healthcare facilities
- The traffic scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited high-paying job options
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.
