Hey folks, My family moved here when I was a kid. You can expect to pay around $1,265 for rent here. The median home value here is around $168,300, which is actually reasonable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. Does this match your experience? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Sunset. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in marketing. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Southern.
No regrets on my end..

The food scene here is challenging. Tons of great Mediterranean places. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in East for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Lots of new development happening
- The walkability scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited high-paying job options
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Good luck with whatever you decide..
