Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a remote worker and With a population of 10,545, Linthicum is a small town. Rent is about $1,901/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $368,800 on average. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Would love some local perspective. Looking forward to hearing from you all. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Tampa about 6 years ago. The main reasons were school and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is pretty good.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Uptown for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The food scene scene is tough
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited high-paying job options
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 10 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
