Is Lisle good for remote workers?

Been meaning to ask this. I've been here for 8 years and Crime rate is something to consider -Lisle sits at 38.3 per 100K. With a population of 23,413, Lisle is a small town. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to New York it's challenging.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Westside. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely underrated and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Westside) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a data analyst, 28, moved here 4 years ago from Miami. I've lived in Meadowbrook and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Close to major attractions
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Limited shopping options
3. The dating scene situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Meadowbrook: Great for families. average vibes, walkable.
- Westside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $50K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've lived in The Heights for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Affordable housing options
- The dating scene scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Bought a house here in 2020 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The public transit is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.
