Longtime lurker here, With a population of 10,942, Little Ferry is a small town. You can expect to pay around $1,798 for rent here. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 13 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
