Little Rock is underrated, change my mind

I relocated for work and With a population of 203K, Little Rock is a mid-size city. The unemployment rate is 2.7%, which is pretty low. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it exceeded my expectations. No regrets on my end..

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Strong sense of community
- The school system scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Meadowbrook. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in finance. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want outdoor recreation, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

As someone who grew up here, it's been a really good experience overall. A lot has changed in the past few years though. public transit used to be much stable but now it's surprisingly good.
