With a population of 85,870, Livermore is a smaller city. Household incomes average around $153,602 in Livermore. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Let me know your thoughts. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value job market, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

The food scene here is decent. Tons of great sushi places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Phoenix about 5 years ago. The main reasons were weather and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are pricey, gas is improving.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Good luck with whatever you decide..
