Anyone work in healthcare in Livonia?

Been meaning to ask this. Household incomes average around $96,317 in Livonia. Crime rate is something to consider -Livonia sits at 178.3 per 100K. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Thanks in advance! There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a data analyst, 47, moved here 7 years ago from Dallas. I've lived in Greenfield and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Nightlife is limited
3. The public transit situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for couples. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Dallas, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 11 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

The food scene here is underrated. Tons of great Indian places. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want housing market, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Uptown. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in construction. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Definitely worth checking out..

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 12 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I work in marketing here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is excellent. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is decent in most areas.
