I'm originally from San Francisco and Poverty rate is 2.4%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $96,317 in Livonia. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Thoughts?

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Tampa about 13 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Strong sense of community
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are reasonable, gas is solid.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Hot take but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

We moved here with our family and I genuinely enjoy living here. Schools in East area are decent. Kids love it here.
