I've been here 14 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Background: I'm a lawyer, 41, moved here 6 years ago from Boston. I've lived in Highland and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Decent public transit for the size
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

1. Not very walkable outside downtown
